Camping PEI: Photos of our stop at a Campground PEI

We'd be driving all day, and had actually expected to stay on the west coast of the island at the West Point Lighthouse campground, but didn't see any scenery that inspired us to stay. It wasn't bad, but we'd just come from Cape Breton Island and that had spoiled us on it's Cape Breton beauty.

We arrived at our Sun-n-Shade campground from our drive from the West Point lighthouse and O'Reilly Potato Museum.

Our only campground in PEI that we stopped at. Even though it was late in the day, and soon dusk was upon us, we didn't even get a campground PEI sunset picture taken.

It was not only getting dark out, but it was beginning to spinkle. Since there was a drought that year, I wasn't expecting a deluge of rain while we put up our camping tent and started to get our gear out of the rental car. In retrospect we could've put up our tent in a lot of places, Cavendish camping PEI at the Cavendish PEI campground; Marco Polo camping PEI at the Marco Polo PEI campground.

The photos here reflect that this was the only camping in PEI that we did.

The Sun and Shade campground is about 1/2 mile from the Confederation Bridge PEI, and spontaneously became our wonderful overnight accommodation in PEI.

Although we were probably within 45 minutes of these, we didn't find any campground KOA PEI, or Twin Shores campground PEI.

And it wouldn't surprise me any if we breezed in our PEI rental vacation Mazda car, past the campground Haven Holiday PEI or the campground Cavendish in PEI.

Confederation Bridge PEI

Until 1917 the way people got to Prince Edward Island was to sail there. In 1917 a ferry service started between New Brunswick and PEI, that continued for 80 years, until the Confederation Bridge linked the two provinces.

The Bridge Confederation PEI is 10 miles long, making it the longest bridge to span water which freezes. It's not scenic to drive, as all you can see is concrete. Maybe if you drove a taller vehicle than we did you could see the water on either side.

Once we reached the New Brunswick side of the bridge we high-tailed it for Nova Scotia. I was tired of PEI wheat fields. We've got fields in in the midwestern USA and I want new scenery.

So we left our campground cottage Edward Island Prince rental (but it was really a tent).

Our goal for the day was to see as many sights on our way back toward Halifax. Our next stop turned out to be a historic, functioning grist mill. Balmoral Grist Mill. We paid the cheap price for the great tour. Great photos of the mill too.
