Louisbourg's Campground in Nova ScotiaOur shortcut from Ingonish via Englishtown's ferry paid off. We made it to Louisbourg before nightfall. We camped at the Lousibourg RV Park right behind the office. There were primarily recreational vehicles, and very few tent campers.  This is so small townish, but nice, that it's not truly camp grounds Nova Scotia style.
Since Louisbourg was of French heritage, this campground could almost be considered Camp French in Nova Scotia.
The above playground was across from this campground Nova Scotia Canada. Not too many of the recreational vehicle campers seemed to have kids the age that would play on this playground equipment.
We were at home in motor Nova rent Scotia.

The majority of the camping people were at home in their motor homes. By this time of evening we've been through Sydney and wasted an hour trying to find a clothing store. Finally found a Wal-Mart and got enough clothing to get us through another day or two. Hoping the airline can get us our clothes by 7am tomorrow despite their track records so far. It would be hard for Continental to miss us if they show up. (They didn't because our luggage was in Montreal, although we didn't know until a couple days later). Once we got checked in I felt duty bound to call the airlines at the earliest possible moment to let them know where we were, so that they could have a higher likelihood of getting our luggage to us. The Continental rep was rude (1st rude one, but VERY rude) and by the time I got taken off hold.
We were late arriving because of our ongoing luggage snafu with inContinental. The "Spirit of the Island" show had already started. Since we missed the show we decided to put up our tent before it got too dark and then go get some dinner. We headed up town to find all the restaurants closed except for two pizza places. (Hmmm...tell me that a single hour finding a WalMart in an unfamiliar town, and buying clothing doesn't impact your vacation).
So we had a lovely dinner of nasty Hawaiian pizza at Rovie's (the worst Haole pizza we'd ever had). It was a place meant for takeout, but i was a little shocked when the local teenagers who were hanging outside (i notice a trend in our dining choices) came in a used the napkins on our table. You know...I'd be ok with it in my home town where folks are folks. But I'm a visitor, and they don't know me or recognize me. Given that we only had two choices for dinner, we had a 50-50 shot at a decent experience. As that credit card company so aptless would categorize this memory of our vacation, its "Priceless" Thanks inContinental, for doing your part!
And yes, inContinental, those teens taught me a few more words that Lynn won't let me use. But it's funny how those words will always be associated with you in my mind. Tomorrow will be Tuesday. We're going to go the Fortress of Louisbourg and then head toward Prince Edward Island after that? |
