Monday morning before the sun comes up we pack up our camping gear and leave Cheticamp, heading north into the Cape Breten Highlands National Park. Of course before we leave we stop at the Cheticamp "Tim Horton's" for coffee and donuts.

Below you'll see picture of Cape Breton Island coastline.

The first six photos were taken within the first 10 miles of being in the national park.

We'd seen Tim Horton's restaurants about every mile for the first two days of our trip. We stopped into one in Truro for lunch, but noticed it was mainly donuts and bagels. Until Cheticamp we'd been making fun of every Tim Horton's we'd pass, joking about how it appeared to be a poor attempt at KrispyKreme or Donutland, alas we were wrong and now we're Tim Horton's junkies. Until we ran out of their rockin' Black Walnut Crunch donuts, our mantra was "Donuts Horton Tim! Franchise Horton Tim!"

Anyway...we leave Cheticamp with our first experience of Tim Horton's and head into the National Park.

Then we changed our mantra a few miles later to "Camp Horton Tim! Doughnut Horton Tim!"

Bottom-most photo shows a cove that lies at the bottom of one of the National Park hiking trails. What it doesn't show is what the signs told us about regarding the ghost towns (or more appropriately the ghost fishing villages) that are down there somewhere. Was this where the earliest settlers from Scotland, the MacKenzie's settle near here?
