Baddeck lies on Bras D'or Lake on Nova Scotia's Cape Breton Island. Baddeck and Bras Dor Lake is somewhat central to Cape Breton Island
Enjoy these Baddeck photos! These Baddeck pictures are for your enjoyment.
We had just come from Glace Bay's Marconi Museum and Sydney to Baddeck.

Here are photos of one of many Nova Scotia light houses. We also have better photos of the Peggy's Cove light house near Halifax, and of the West Point lighthouse on the west side of Prince Edwards Island.

The whole time we were in the museum, we never noticed any Alexander Graham Bell photophone transmission patent number information.

From Glace Bay we went into Sydney and killed some time burning a CD of our photos. We left Sydney around 5pm and made it to Baddeck around 7pm, thirty minutes before the Alexander Graham Bell Museum was to close.
The museum, located in the city where Bell and family spent their summers, houses replicas of Bell's hydrofoil the HD-4, a ton of other displays about his inventions and everyday tools. It sits on the shores of the Bras d'Or Lake (see the photos of the lighthouse that's visible from the museum's front lawn). It's interesting that Mabell Bell, Alexander's wife rode in the HD-4 a few times and Alexander himself did not. The museum was very professional in it's appearance, and very interesting in it's presentation of a man and his ideas (beyond the telephone).
We definitely recommend you visit and spend a couple hours taking it all in.

You might see an Alexander Graham Bells quote, or learn about Sejarah Alexander Graham Bell or Alexander Graham Bells family tree. Are you an Alexander ancestor Bell Graham?

Although we didn't stay in town in a Baddeck Canada hotel, Baddeck Nova Scotia Lodging is fairly abundant. There are no fewer than 38 places to make accomodations Baddeck NS.
For a Baddeck hotels guide, you will want to contact the Baddeck Nova Scotia tourist bureau. They will likely have information on Chebucto St. and hotel and Baddeck.
We were primarily camping, but we didn't even have time to look for Baddeck camping grounds.

During our visit in Baddeck we took part in a Ceili, a Celtic or Irish music gathering featuring a pianist and fiddle player. We probably heard an Irish music proverb thrown around, and it was held in a Catholic Parish, so we could even joke that it was Irish sounding Christian music. I guess the folks who didn't pay and stood outside were able to hear free irish music piano played.

The women playing the music (one was a music teacher or professor) were mindful to insert some education into their fun playing.
Before they'd play a song, they'd tell us a little about Irish traditional fiddle music reel jig polkas, and whatnot.

For those who think they'd like to move to town, you should really consider finding Baddeck Nova Scotia reality for sale. Or check out the flower shops Baddeck Nova Scotia.
After leaving the Bell Museum we started to head out of town toward New Glasgow (our anticipated destinatin for the night), but before we hit the main highway we saw a sign for a Ceili. Although we didn't take pictures, it was interesting getting to hear Celtic music and see Celtic dance as performed by local Irish descendants. It was an informal affair, as suggested by the handwritten sign posted by the roadside, and was held in a parish building that had the aesthetics of a small office. After 90 minutes of jigs, reels, and what not, it was time to drive on.
We left Baddeck around 8:30 pm and had a two hour drive in fog and rain before we'd reach New Glasgow. But since the hotels in New Glasgow were full, we found a stop-n-flop in Pictou, did our nightly call-Continental, and slept in anticipation of the Caribou ferry ride to Prince Edward Island in the morning.
